At low tide, we do enjoy some beach front. Wear your water shoes and be aware of slippery seaweed. We’ve got outdoor buckets for collecting “ocean booty”.
There are three kayaks, a paddle board and a wooden rowboat for your enjoyment. Just be sure everything is tied or placed well away from the water at high tide. Some of our high tides have been known to sweep a kayak or paddle offshore. An outdoor fire pit and firewood are available for your use, along with an outdoor cedar shower with hot and cold water and a changing area for your convenience.
We have a long driveway and a handful of parking spaces. Well-orchestrated, there is room for several cars.
For the 2024 season, the Overlook at Mussel Ridge is available only for the months of July and August, and on a monthly basis. The rate is $25,000, monthly.
There are no other fees of any kind. Included with rent is weekly house cleaning, lawn and garden care and trash removal.

Cylends Island, as seen on Google Maps, is Slins Island on 99% of navigation charts. This island is privately owned by one of our neighbors and managed by The Maine Island Trail Association. Cylends (or Slins) is an easy paddle from the deck and open to visitors. There is also a small tent site situated in the center of the pine grove. Please do not visit the island until after July 1st to give space to the nesting ospreys, which you can observe from our deck. Of course you must also observe the “leave no trace”protocols and please do remove any miscellaneous trash you may find.
Spruce Head is a very peaceful place where there are only sounds of nature and fishing vessels. Please do not play music outdoors and please generally keep noise to a minimum. We ask that the indoor fireplace not be used in summer months.
