Meet Catherine & Scott

Compound living has become requisite for owners, Scott and Catherine, who now enjoy their beautiful home in the coastal community of Spruce Head, Maine.  As former campground owners, their hearts desire has been to bring family and friends together around love, laughter, and the outdoors.  Their coastal compound can now be yours to enjoy in the same manner. Their home encompasses the true beauty of Maine coastal living. The casual and classic accommodations are ideal for both small and larger family gatherings and special occasions.

  • Laundry

Laundry is located in the main cottage, off the kitchen.  We use ONLY fully biodegradable, fragrance free laundry and cleaning products. These are very concentrated, so please follow the guidance as indicated on the machines.  Please do NOT overstuff the machines and NO PET ITEMS OR SHOES are to go in the machines

  • Can we bring our pets?

We are sorry, but pets are not allowed on the property.

  • Beach

At low tide, we do enjoy some beach front. Wear your water shoes and be aware of slippery seaweed.  We’ve got outdoor buckets for collecting “ocean booty”.

  • Ocean Play

There are three kayaks, a paddle board and a wooden rowboat for your enjoyment.  Just be sure everything is tied or placed well away from the water at high tide.  Some of our high tides have been known to sweep a kayak or paddle offshore. An outdoor fire pit and firewood are available for your use, along with an outdoor cedar shower with hot and cold water and a changing area for your convenience.

  • Parking

We have a long driveway and a handful of parking spaces.  Well-orchestrated, there is room for several cars.

  • What time is check-in, check-out?

  • What is the small island we see pictured out the windows
and can we walk the island?

Cylends Island, as seen on Google Maps, is Slins Island on 99% of navigation charts. This island is privately owned by one of our neighbors and managed by The Maine Island Trail Association. Cylends (or Slins) is an easy paddle from the deck and open to visitors. There is also a small tent site situated in the center of the pine grove. Please do not visit the island until after July 1st to give space to the nesting ospreys, which you can observe from our deck. Of course you must also observe the “leave no trace”protocols and please do remove any miscellaneous trash you may find.

  • Are there any rules we need to follow?

Spruce Head is a very peaceful place where there are only sounds of nature and fishing vessels. Please do not play music outdoors and please generally keep noise to a minimum. We ask that the indoor fireplace not be used in summer months.
